For the fourth time in four years the CoS have been found guilty of mass sockpuppet campaigns against Wikipedia. This time, however, Wiki has decided to block every IP related to CoS. The decision didn’t come lightly as this massive Requests for arbitration entry will show. Just a quick glance at all the people behind the mass corporate editing and you will agree with their decision as well.
One admin tells The Reg that policing edits from Scientology machines has been particularly difficult because myriad editors sit behind a small number of IPs and, for some reason, the address of each editor is constantly changing. This prevents admins from determining whether a single editor is using multiple Wikipedia accounts to game the system. In Wikiland, such sockpuppeting is not allowed. – The Register
I question their decision to put up with this for so long when average spammers and sockpuppets often get slapped immediately. I also wonder what action CoS will take in reference to this incident. I do know that this news couldn’t come at a worse time as the corporation is in hot water with French authorities regarding organized fraud and illegal pharmaceutical activity.
That’s good news.
Thanks for being one of my Top 10 EC droppers for the month of May! To show my appreciation, I gave you a linky love! Hope to see you next 30th!
